About Coach

This is the official site for Mesquite High School running. It includes winter and summer off-season running club activities as well as keeps everyone up to date with fall cross-country and spring track and field seasons.

I'm Coach Dean and I've been around awhile. Istarted running as a sophomore in high school, ran two years in college and then hit the road racing scene for the next 30 plus years. I've raced everything from 400 meters (well OK, 440 yards back then) up to marathons and an ultra-marathon (50K - 31.1 miles).

I started as an assistance coach for two years after graduating from high school then picked up coaching again in my late 20s. I've been coaching adults and youth ever since. I continue to learn and grow as a coach through continuing education hours and certifications in technical, physiological and psychological aspects of training and coaching; and of course I constantly learn from my runners - no two are the same.
