Meet Coach Claudia
A Personal Note
Claudia
is proof that speed does not need to be sacrificed with age.
Claudia’s introduction to running came in high school
(Wisconsin) when she was recruited to run cross country and
track after failing to qualify for the boy’s high school
golf team (there was no girl’s team in those days). Though
she has been running and racing since 1978 she returned to the
track in 2005. In her 2005 debut track season since high school,
she set lifetime PR’s and met All-American Masters standards
in the 1500, mile, and 3000 (ranked in the top 20 nationally
in all events). She also established a lifetime PR in the 5k.
She
has competed in distances ranging from the 800 to the marathon,
duathlons, triathlon, and cycling events. She has almost 25
years of running and duathlon experience including representing
the U.S. in the International Triathlon Union World Duathlon
in 1997 in Spain. Claudia has undergone two knee surgeries,
a stress fracture of the foot and a heart attack (the latter
two in 2006) and so, is keenly aware and personally knowledgeable
about such performance barriers. With a masters degree in community
counseling, she has an acute interest in maintaining (and helping
others maintain) work-sports-home life balance. She specializes
in women’s issues and running. Claudia teamed up with
RxRunning as a coach in the summer of 2004.
